Every Day

Falling, beautifully, into
a choreographed nightmare
Sinking, weighing myself down,
down the ocean where
the sand blackens the blue
The comfort of forgetting you
Shrinking, shriveling, staggering
Doesn't mean a thing
Doesn't mean everything can
and will set a record of novelty
Ugly, isn't it? When I rise
these gearwheels click but never
surrender the past like glass
refracting prisms of light
A brain so autonomous
it ticks without a heart
Flesh and blood my casket
You are made of rainbow-
unicorn-glitter-and-lollipop
Your cheekbones sugar cubes
Your scent —
        the pinkness of seduction
I cannot reason why
It just is
With each and every day
I hate you more than love
